FINGER OF CHRIST
Jesus is the most important person in man's salvation
In the Latin Church, as among the Indians, the Hand plays an important role and is regarded as minutely symbolic.
The thumb, stout and strong, denoted the chief person Godhead; the third finger taller than all the others denotes Christ, the most important Person in man's salvation; and the second finger, as between the others, denotes the Holy Ghost proceeding from the Father and the Son.
The symbol upon the palm denotes respectively Jesus Christ as our Saviour, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The first and the last, the Author of the Universe.
